Trees invoking Wadjet
49.5 x 65 cm
Watercolor and Gouache on Wasli Paper
2024
Here, trees convene to discuss their rights with the Egyptian goddess Wadjet, who is believed to be the protector of the land and women in childbirth. Trees invoke her to reclaim her, seeking well-being and protection for themselves. This work proposes alternative means to think about motherhood, care, symbiosis, and reciprocity and explore the interrelation between humans and non-humans.
